Dal 2007 Maria Irene Cardillo fa parte del Technical Team della Città dello Sport a Tor Vergata in Roma, con incarico per la Progettazione architettonica del Palasport e della Piscina Olimpionica esterna, in fase di realizzazione.
Since 2007 the Architect is part of the Technical Team for Città dello Sport in Tor Vergata, Rome with the assignment for the architectural project of the Palasport and Olympic Pool, presently under construction.
Il progetto è suddiviso in due padiglioni a forma di ventaglio: uno ospita uno stadio coperto da 15.000 posti, l'altro le piscine olimpioniche (una olimpionica, il castello dei tuffi e all'esterno le piscine per la pallanuoto ed il nuoto sincronizzato). All'interno dello stadio sono previsti 3000 posti per il nuoto e 1200 posti per la piscina dei tuffi, che possono essere aumentati grazie a delle tribune mobili. Le piscine olimpioniche hanno le seguenti dimensioni: una 53x25m e l'altra 25x25m utilizzata per i tuffi. Alla zona sportiva sarà annessa una zona di servizi, palestre, spogliatoi, ristoranti e magazzini. Tre piscine all'aperto sono integrate al progetto attraverso le sistemazioni esterne dei percorsi: una piscina olimpionica, una per la pallanuoto ed una per il nuoto sincronizzato.
The project is divided into two fan-shaped pavilions: one hosts an indoor stadium with 15,000 seats, the other the Olympic swimming pools (one Olympic, the castle of diving and outdoor swimming pools for water polo and synchronized swimming). Inside the stadium are planned for 3000 seats and 1200 seats swimming pool for the diving, which can be increased thanks to the mobile stands. The Olympic swimming pools have the following dimensions: one 53x25m and the other 25x25m used for diving. The sports area will be annexed an area of services, gyms, locker rooms, restaurants and stores. Three outdoor pools are integrated into the project through the landscaping of paths: a lap pool, one for the water polo and one for synchronized swimming.
